Women who are contemplating divorce and those who are going through the divorce process are faced with many decisions and unexpected challenges. Divorce is a stressful experience – especially for women with children. Divorce counseling helps women navigate this difficult period. It provides support, guidance and objectivity during the often contentious divorce process. And it helps women assess and respond to the emotional needs of their children during divorce. Additionally, divorce counseling helps a woman achieve a healthy equilibrium and a sense of direction as she begins to establish an independent life for herself after divorce.
There is a strong advocacy component to my work with women. My divorce counseling and psychotherapy services teach women skills in assertiveness and promote increased comfort with independence.
During the counseling process, women receive guidance and education concerning a variety of issues including custody, visitation, single parenthood, finances, dating and starting over.
