About MeI have had a career that encompasses many different models for working with people. Career counselors might describe me as someone who has had sequential careers. My career has been a canvas upon which to express myself – a dynamic and creative medium that changes as I change. In 1979, I received my Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago. I’ve been a practicing psychotherapist in Chicago for more than thirty years. My therapeutic approach is active and problem-focused, because I believe that's most effective for accomplishing change. |
In the early 90’s, I went back to graduate school and took additional coursework in Organizational Development. I established an organizational development consulting practice alongside my psychotherapy practice. For most of the six years that I was actively involved in organizational development consulting, I provided leadership development and family business consultation, and I specialized in designing programs to raise sales force performance.
In the late nineties, I became interested in coaching and took training from Coach U. That training has found its way into my work with clients, reinforcing the necessity for clear and mutually agreed upon goals and respect for my clients as equal partners. In 2000 I began offering career coaching in addition to psychotherapy. I was drawn to career coaching as a result of my commitment to my own career and my passion for helping people find work that accurately reflects their values, interests, talents and experience.
From 2000-2003, I taught graduate school at Springfield College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I was an instructor in two different programs: Supervision and Management, and Counseling. I also taught undergraduate students at North Park College. There, I was an instructor in the Adult Completion Program and taught Organizational Management and Human Development. I love teaching and it has an important role in my coaching work and in my psychotherapy with individuals and couples.
My career has been an important aspect of my life and I’ve been highly intentional about it. I’ve reinvented myself several times over and I’ve had a successful practice for more than twenty years. My own experience is tangible expression of my belief that people can create work that remains stimulating and interesting all their lives.
